The less glamorous side to flower growing! - 14 May 16

This was the weekend chosen for the re-skinning of our polytunnel...

Robbie dug out the trenches all around the outside with a mini-digger, and we removed all of the old polythene.  It has lasted us well - 4 years is pretty good - but it was splitting and the build up of algae was cutting out the light.  We spent some time on repairs to the frame, and also binding up all the joints so they don't scuff the new cover.  Then 'hot-spot' tape was applied to the outside surfaces to reduce friction.
Then it's all hands on deck... and the new cover is pulled over the huge frame!

... and we adjust the positioning....

and fix it in place - Battoning around the wooden frames at the ends, and the sides are trenched in.  Just a few finishing off jobs to do now, but our shiney new polytunnel is fit to go!
